Mike Dean

About

Soccer referee who was appointed to the English Premier League in 2000. His highest refereeing honor came in 2008 when he took charge of that year's FA Cup final between Portsmouth and Cardiff City. He has officiated the finals of the Football League Cup.

Before Fame

He began his refereeing career in 1985 and became an assistant referee in The Football League in 1995.

Trivia

While refereeing a match between Swansea City and Cardiff City on April 5, 2009, he was struck in the forehead by a coin thrown by a fan. He has accumulated over 30,000 followers on his Instagram page. 

Family Life

He was born in Wirral, England. He has a wide and two daughters, Zara and Brittany.

Associated With

After refereeing a 2010 game between Manchester United and Chelsea, he was heavily criticized by Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson.
