Israeli pop singer who developed a large following across Europe before he committed suicide at the age of 28. His biggest hit was "Laisse-moi t'aimer" ("Let me love you").

Before Fame

He began singing at age eleven and joined his brother's band at seventeen. He went on his first tour a year later and relocated to France to further his career.

Trivia

He represented France in a radio contest that spanned Europe and won with the song "Mais dans la lumière."

Family Life

His mother was a survivor of Auschwitz who married a resistance fighter named Fishel Brand. They moved to Israel eight months after he was born.

His producer, Jean Renard, was also credited with the success of Johnny Hallyday.
