Served on NASA mission STS-123 in March 2008, setting a record at the time for longest time spent on the International Space Station.

Before Fame

He graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1979 and 7 years later from the Naval Postgraduate School.

Trivia

He was also a crew member of the 11-day STS-129, which took off in November of 2009.

Family Life

He and Lorrie Dancer had 3 children together.
