Michael V Drake

About

Prior to taking office in 2014 as the fifteenth President of Ohio State University, he was a member of the ophthalmology faculty at the University of California-San Francisco and a Chancellor of the University of California-Irvine.

Before Fame

After attending Stanford University for his undergraduate education and the University of California-San Francisco for medical school, he oversaw medical school admissions at UCSF. 

Trivia

He spoke out against California Proposition 209, which, in 1996, mandated that California state employers ignore gender and race when making hiring decisions. He served as the 5th Chancellor of the University of California, Irvine. 

Family Life

Born in New York City and raised in New Jersey, he later settled in Sacramento, California.

Like Janet Napolitano (President Obama's Secretary of Homeland Security and, later, President of the University of California), he held office as president of a major university.
