Martha Ostenso

About

A Canadian fiction writer and screenwriter, she is particularly known for her 1925 bestselling novel, Wild Geese. Her other works include The White Reef; The Dark Dawn; Prologue to Love; and The Stone Field.

Before Fame

After briefly studying at the University of Manitoba, she moved to New York and pursued a career as a social worker.

Trivia

Her novel Wild Geese was made into a Canadian television movie starring Sam Shepard.

Family Life

She married Douglas Durkin in 1945.
