Marilyn French

About

A twentieth-century American author, she is best known for her 1977 novel, The Women's Room, which is considered one of the most influential works in the modern feminist canon. Her other works include The Love of Children; The War Against Women; The Bleeding Heart; and Her Mother's Daughter.

Before Fame

After graduating from Hofstra University, she went on to receive her Ph.D. in English from Harvard.

Trivia

She once made it her goal to change the economic and social framework of Western society to make the modern world more conducive to the realization of feminist ideals.

Family Life

She married Robert M. French, Jr. in 1950.
