Remembered for her title as world's oldest living person, this Canadian supercentenarian lived to be 117 years and 230 days old, making her the fourth (recognized) longest-living person in history. 

Before Fame

Born to a French Canadian family in Kamouraska, Quebec, she latter settled in Corbeil, Ontario.

Trivia

Amazingly, she used tobacco products until she was well into her nineties.

Family Life

Her decade-long first marriage, to Etienne Leclerc, resulted in four children who lived to adulthood. Following Leclerc's death, she married Hector Meilleur, with whom she raised another six children. At the end of her life, she was living in a nursing home where one of her sons was also a resident.

Associated With

Following the death of French supercentenarian Jeanne Calment, Meilleur was recognized as the oldest person alive.
