Lorenzo Odone

About

American man who gained fame after his childhood story was featured in the 1992 film Lorenzo's Oil. His family helped develop a controversial treatment for his incurable illness. He died the day after his 30th birthday.

Before Fame

In April 1984, he was diagnosed with the illness adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD).

Trivia

Towards the end of his life, he lived with his father in Virginia. He was cared for by nurses and a family friend.

His parents were named Augusto and Michaela Odone.

Actor Zack O'malley Greenburg played him in the film Lorenzo's Oil. His parents were played by Nick Nolte and Susan Sarandon.
