Before Fame

She joined the Church of Scientology at age eighteen. She died in her mid thirties of a pulmonary embolism while being treated for both psychiatric problems and injuries related to an automobile accident.

In 2009, one-time high-ranking Church of Scientology member Mark Rathbun confessed that he had ordered fellow Scientologists to destroy paperwork regarding the Lisa McPherson case.

Family Life

When she was in her late teens, she relocated from Dallas, Texas, to Clearwater, Florida.

Associated With

Her death resulted in legal action against the Church of Scientology; comedian Vince Offer also sued the organization after resigning as a member.
