Before Fame

She received a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Missouri. Later, she taught at the university's Department of Physics and Astronomy.

Trivia

She received a NASA Outstanding Performance Rating, a Sustained Superior Performance Award, and an Outstanding Leadership Award.

Family Life

She married fellow astronaut, Steven Nagel.
