About

The last monarch and only Queen of the Hawaiian Islands whose reign lasted from 1891 to 1893. She was also an accomplished author and songwriter who played several instruments including the piano and the ukele.

Before Fame

She studied at the Chiefs' Children's School before becoming Crown Princess in 1874.

Trivia

She was forced to relinquish her kingdom during the U.S.'s coup of the Hawaiian islands in 1893.

Family Life

She got married to John Dominis on September 16, 1862 and the couple had two children, Lydia Aholo and Kaiponohea Ae'a.
