German professional and Olympic marathon swimmer known for winning the gold medal in the 10-kilometer open water swim at the 2023 FINA Open Water Tour and for winning the gold medal in the 10-kilometer open water swim at the 2022 European Aquatics Championships. 

Before Fame

She learned how to swim at a very young age and began taking advantage of her grandparents' swimming pool as a child. She began serious training as a swimmer at the age of 11 when her family moved to Wurzburg. She won her first German Championship in the open water swim class at the Germany Swimming Championship in 2012 when she was 15 years old. 

Trivia

She speaks both German and English. She loves dogs and is a dog owner. She has been a supporter and ambassador for the Planet Water Campaign and Arena Water Instinct. 

Family Life

Her full birth name is Leonie Antonia Beck. She was born in Augsburg, Germany. Her father first encouraged her to start swimming due to fears he had about his children drowning.

She and fellow German swimmer Florian Wellbrock swam in the World Aquatics Open Water Cup and both took home medals for Germany.
