Novelist and short story author known for her bestselling novels Fates and Furies, The Monsters of Templeton, Arcadia, Matrix, and The Vaster Wilds, for her short story collections Florida and Delicate Edible Birds, and for being a three-time National Book Award finalist.

Before Fame

She attended Amherst College and graduated with a Bachelor's degree. She then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree in fiction. She published her first novel The Monsters of Templeton in February 2008.

Trivia

She is a former competitive swimmer. She was on the rowing team in college. She enjoys running and reading. She has estimated she reads around 300 books per year.

Family Life

 She was born and raised in Cooperstown, New York. She has a sister named Sarah True who was an Olympic triathlete. She also has one brother. She married Clay Kallman after they both graduated from college. She has two sons. 

Associated With

She considers Virginia Woolf as one of her influences in her writing. Her book Fates and Furies was chosen by Barack Obama as his favorite book of 2015.
