Biomedical researcher who found acclaim with her research connecting cancer to various viruses. She created India's first tissue culture research laboratory at the Indian Cancer Research Centre.

Before Fame

She was the Director of the Indian Cancer Research Center from 1966 to 1970.

Trivia

IN 1982, she was awarded the Padma Bhushan in Medicine in India. Google Doodle featured her 104th birthday in 2021. 

Family Life

Her parents were Dinkar Dattatreya Samarath and Shantabai Dinkar Samarath. Her father was a biologist.
