Kaitlyn Chen

About

Basketball player known for her skills as a point guard and shooting guard, and known for playing for Princeton University, the University of Connecticut (UConn), and for the Golden State Valkyries as part of the Women's National Basketball Association. She is also known for being part of the UConn Huskies team, which won the NCAA Tournament Final in April 2025.

Before Fame

She grew up participating in four different sports during her childhood. She attended Flintridge Preparatory School in La Cañada Flintridge and excelled in basketball. She set school records for points, rebounds, and assists before she was recruited to play for Princeton University. She played for Princeton until 2024 before transferring to UCONN so she could participate in her graduate season. 

Trivia

She was the first woman of Taiwanese heritage to be drafted by a WNBA team when she was drafted in April 2025.  She received the All-Area Player of the Year as a sophomore in high school and the Pasadena Star-News All-Area Player of the Year honors in her final two high school seasons. She was also a McDonald's All-American nominee and was named the league MVP and LA Girls' Basketball Player of the Year. She graduated from Princeton in May 2024 with a Bachelor's degree in anthropology. She was also recognized as a CSC Academic All-American and a 2024 Academic All-Ivy selection. ​

Family Life

She was born and raised in San Marino, California. Her parents are Taiwanese immigrants. 

Associated With

She played alongside Paige Bueckers, KK Arnold, and Aubrey Griffin on the UConn Huskies team that won the NCAA Tournament in April 2025.
