Jorge Ubico

Ruthless Guatemalan dictator who served as the country's President from 1931 to 1944. He was defeated in the October Revolution and died several years later in exile in the United States.

Before Fame

He started off his military career as a second lieutenant, a post he received due to his family's political ties, in 1897.

He helped the United Fruit Company, an American corporation that exported bananas, become the most profitable and important company in Guatemala.

His father, Arturo Ubico Urruela, was a lawyer and politician.
