John McKeithen

Democrat who held office as the 49th Governor of Louisiana from 1964 to 1972. He left a strong legacy by playing an instrumental role in the creation of the Louisiana Superdome.

Before Fame

He was a first lieutenant during World War II, after earning his law degree from the Louisiana State University Law Center.

While in office he signed legislation that established a strict code of ethics for elected and appointed public officials.

He and his wife Margie McKeithen had six children together.
