Former NFL player who won three NFL Championships with the Detroit Lions in the 50's. He later played for the Dallas Cowboys and was the franchise's first Pro Bowler.

Before Fame

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and got his start playing football at Buena Vista College.

He had the unusual distinction of being a two-way player who played both offense and defense on a regular basis.
