Professional baseball player known for playing catcher and infielder for the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball, and for playing for the Baltimore Orioles as a minor league player.

Before Fame

He began playing baseball at a young age. He attended Mater Academy Charter School and played baseball.  He was selected by the New York Mets in the 32nd round of the MLB Draft in 2013, but he chose to attend Florida International University instead. He played as a catcher and first baseman while at Florida International University. He was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 15th round of the 2017 MLB Draft and played for several years in their minor league team. His big break was being recruited by the New York Yankees in January 2024. He made his professional MLB debut with the Yankees in March 2025.

Trivia

 He hit his first major league home run on April 27, 2025, against the Toronto Blue Jays. He worked various jobs before becoming a professional baseball player, including working as an Uber driver, substitute teacher, and private baseball coach.

Family Life

He was born Juan Carlos Escarra. He was born and raised in Hialeah, Florida. His mother emigrated from Cuba to the United States, and his father also left Cuba as a child. He married his high school sweetheart Jocelyn in October 2022.

He has played alongside his friend and fellow Cuban-American Nestor Cortes as part of the New York Yankees.
