At age 14, he migrated to Southern California. He studied at Harvard University and entered Yale School of Medicine in 2008.

He volunteered in a clinic in East Timor. He studied mother-to-child transmission of HIV in Botswana. He founded a Zimbabwean-based organization called Hope for Survival, that provided support for children affected by HIV.
