American politician and teacher who became the 15th Chair of the Federal Reserve in February 2014 and was the Vice Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve from 2010 until 2014.

Before Fame

She earned a degree in economics from Pembroke College in 1967 and a PhD in economics from Yale University in 1971.

Trivia

She was elected the Distinguished Fellow of the American Economic Association in 2012.

Family Life

She married Nobel prize-winning economist George Akerlof and they have a son, Robert.
