James Pennethorne

About

British architect and city planner who designed numerous London parks and buildings during the nineteenth century. His works include Battersea Park in South London and the Buckingham Palace Ballroom.

Before Fame

Early in his career, he trained with architects John Nash and August Pugin.

Trivia

In 1836, he designed London's Christ Church, Albany Street.

Family Life

His brother, John Pennethorne, also had a successful career as an architect.

Associated With

He and Joseph Clarkson Maddison were fellow nineteenth-century, British-born architects.
