He and his friend Claude Ryan founded the American Messenger Company in 1907 with the aid of a one hundred-dollar loan from another friend.

A notable philanthropist as well as a businessman, he established both the Annie E. Casey Foundation and Casey Family Programs.

Family Life

A native of Pick Handle Gulch, Nevada, he later settled in Seattle, Washington. After their father's death, he and his siblings Harry, George, and Marguerite were raised by their mother, Annie Casey.
