Henry Bloch

About

Famous as one of the founders of the H&R Block tax company, this entrepreneur and philanthropist had several Kansas City landmarks erected in his honor, including the The Henry Wollman Bloch Fountain and the Bloch Building of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

Before Fame

After briefly studying at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, he graduated from the University of Michigan and later attended Harvard University's Business School.

Trivia

In 2000, he became Chairman Emeritus of H&R Block.

Family Life

He and his wife Marion married in the early 1950s and settled in his hometown of Kansas City. He co-founded H&R Block with his younger brother, Richard Bloch, whom died in 2004.

He and hedge fund founder Louis Bacon both had successful careers in finance.
