Henrik von Eckermann

About

Swedish equestrian, horseback rider, athlete, and show jumper who won gold for the Swedish team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. He began his career as an equestrian at a young age and has won multiple world titles. 

Before Fame

Growing up, he would attend the Gothenburg Horse Show with his parents. He began participating at the World Equestrian Games in 2014. 

Trivia

The gold medal he earned in the year 2020 was Sweden's first equestrian jumping Olympic title since the year 1924, meaning close to 100 years had passed before Sweden had taken such an honor. He won the medal with his horse named King Edward. 

Family Life

He grew up with his two brothers on a farm. In 2022, he married Swiss showjumper Janika Sprunger; their son was born in 2021.

Associated With

In 2017 he competed against American equestrian McLain Ward at the Show Jumping World Cup.
