He played college football at the University of North Carolina, before being selected with the 22nd pick of the 1987 NFL draft.

He won Super Bowls XXIII, XXIV, and XXIX with the 49ers.

Family Life

He married Megan Barton during his career, and has four children with her.

Following his playing career, he became a fund manager at Champion Ventures, along with former 49ers teammates Joe Montana and Ronnie Lott.
