Swedish activist who has gained prominence for her work to halt climate change and global warming. She rose to fame for organizing the world's first school strike for climate outside Sweden's parliament in August 2018. She gave a speech at the 2019 United Nations Climate Action Summit, berating world leaders for not taking more actions against climate change. 

Before Fame

She was diagnosed as a young girl with OCD, autism, and selective mutism. She later decided not to attend school until the 2018 Swedish general elections in August 2018 in response to a heat wave and wildfires. 

Trivia

She has over 4.9 million followers on Twitter. She was named by Time Magazine as one of the world's 25 most influential teenagers in December 2018. She addressed the United Nations Climate Change Conference that same month. 

Family Life

Her mother is opera singer Malena Ernman. Her younger sister Beata is also a singer. Her father is Swedish performer Svante Thunberg.
