Gege Akutami

About

Japanese manga artist who has produced a number of works for the Weekly Shōnen Jump manga anthology. They debuted with the one-shot chapter Kamishiro Sousa. They went on to write and illustrate the popular manga series Jujutsu Kaisen. The manga was adapted for television in 2020.

Before Fame

They began working as an assistant to manga artist Yasuhiro Kanō before publishing their first manga title. 

Trivia

Jujutsu Kaisen was nominated for a Shogakukan Manga Award and a Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. Their one-shot Nikai Bongai Barabarujura received a nomination for Weekly Shōnen Jump's 11th Gold Future Cup contest. 

Family Life

They are from Iwate Prefecture, Japan. They moved to Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture with their parents while they were in fifth grade.
