Before Fame

She studied Spanish and anthropology at McGill University and wrote her first food articles for the McGill Tribune. 

Trivia

She trained at New York's Institute of Culinary Education and worked as an apprentice at the renowned French restaurant, Le Cirque. 

Family Life

She was one of three children born into the Jewish-Canadian family of Ivor and Renee Simmons. She married Jeremy Abrams in 2008. They have a daughter named Dahlia Rae and a son named Kole.
