Fletcher Christian

About

Leader of the 1789 mutiny on board the HMS Bounty. After taking over the ship, he and his twenty-five co-conspirators traveled first to the island of Tubuai and later to Tahiti.

Before Fame

He became a master's mate on the Bounty in 1787.

Trivia

A lot of fellow mutineers had second thoughts and returned to England, but Christian married a local girl named Maimiti and stayed behind.

Family Life

He and his two brothers were born to Ann Dixon and Charles Christian.

Associated With

He and his fellow mutineers ordered the ship's captain, William Bligh , into a lifeboat and cast him off.
