Also known as Hoss Funk, he was inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame in 2006, and the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009.

Before Fame

He played college football at West Texas State University, before pursuing professional wrestling.

Trivia

Among his many accolades and championships, he won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on February 11, 1969.

Family Life

He married Jimmie Funk in 1960, and Marti Funk in 1989, and raised five children between the two. His brother is fellow wrestler Terry Funk.

After retiring from wrestling he opened up a wrestling school, where he has taught wrestlers such as Mickie James.
