Don Beyer

About

Democratic politician who served as Lieutenant Governor of Virginia from 1990 to 1998. In 2014, he launched a campaign for the eighth-district Virginia seat in the United States House of Representatives. In 2020, he defeated Republican nominee Jeff Jordan for a position in the House. 

Before Fame

In 1972, he earned an honors degree in economics from Williams College. He went on to become a Virginia-based automobile executive as well as a politician.

Trivia

He served under the presidential administration of Barack Obama as United States Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. He served as the Vice-Chair of the Joint Economic Committee from 2020 to 202.1 

Family Life

He was born in Italy to an American military family, and he spent the majority of his childhood in Washington, D.C.

During his first term as Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, he served under the state's first African-American governor, Douglas Wilder.
