Dave Mello

About

Drummer best known for his membership in the popular ska punk band Operation Ivy, who had a short but influential career with albums like Energy (1989). Following the band's breakup, he and members of Rancid formed the group Downfall. 

Before Fame

He played in several California bands prior to joining Operation Ivy, including Distorted Truth and Rabbi Conspiracy. 

Trivia

He designed his own signature line of drumsticks with Twotone Drumsticks. 

Family Life

He married a woman named Sarah and has a son named Maxwell. His brother Pat Mello is also a musician.

He played alongside guitarist Tim Armstrong in both Operation Ivy and Downfall.
