About

A high-ranking Roman Catholic clergyman, he began serving in late 2009 as Bishop of the Diocese of Brownsville, Texas. Earlier in his clerical career, he had served as Detroit, Michigan's Auxiliary Bishop.

Before Fame

After studying briefly at both the University of Texas-Austin and Holy Trinity Seminary, he earned degrees in philosophy and divinity from the University of Dallas.

Trivia

He became the youngest Roman Catholic bishop in American history, and he was also the first bishop of Latino heritage to serve in Detroit.

Family Life

He and his three siblings grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, as the children of Lydia and Fernando Flores.
