Daiane dos Santos

Retired gymnast and athlete who is recognized for being the 2003 world champion on the floor apparatus. She became the first black gymnast to ever win an event at the World Championships. She is also the first Brazilian and South American to win the competition.

She began practicing gymnastics at the age of 12.

Trivia

At the 2003 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, she opened her routine with a piked double Arabian. She helped her home country place 4th at the Olympic Test Event in London in the year 2012. Like most gymnasts, she is rather small in stature, standing at four feet, nine inches.
