He had his first acting role at age 23 in the 1978 film, Pranan Kareedu.

Trivia

He began his political career in 2012, when he became the Minister of Tourism of India. He was listed as one of the 'Top 50 Power People of India.' In 1998, he started the Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust, which focuses on eye and blood donations. He has won 7 Film Fare Awards throughout his lengthy acting career.

Family Life

He has three children with his wife Surekha named Ram, Sushmita and Sreeja. His brother Nagendra Babu is also an actor.
