Swedish royalty who ascended to the Swedish throne in 1973. As King, he holds the highest ranks in the Swedish Armed Forces. He is a member of the House of Bernadotte. 

Before Fame

In Swedish Royal Court manner, the tragedy of his father's death and what it meant to not have a father was not discussed. He was only nine months old when his father passed away unexpectedly.

Trivia

Besides wearing a crown, he is also interested in the environment, technology, and collecting old cars.

Family Life

His parents are Prince Gustaf Adolf, Duke of Vasterbotten, and Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

Associated With

He is the third cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. In 1972, he met Silvia Sommerlath during the Munich Olympics, and the two married four years later. They have three children.
