Before Fame

He grew up in Ennis, Texas. He played the organ at his Presbyterian Church and played music in his high school band.

He became one of the prime players of variety programming during the Golden Age of Television, producing The Dinah Shore Chevy Show.

Family Life

He was living with his wife Alice in Calabasas, California, when he died. He had three sons named Baird, Robert III, and Chuck.
