Leader of the Weather Underground political protest movement who was famously called a terrorist by conservatives in 2008. He was a longtime professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

He was in the Bay-Area movement Students for a Democratic Society (SDS).

Trivia

He participated in the bombings of New York City Police Department headquarters in 1970, the United States Capitol building in 1971, and the Pentagon in 1972 to oppose the Vietnam War.

Family Life

He married a fellow protester and now a law professor at Northwestern, Bernadine Dohnrn.

Associated With

During the 2008 US presidential campaign, a controversy arose over his contacts with candidate Barack Obama, with much of the right-wing claiming that he was a terrorist.
