Before Fame

She studied music at Michigan State University and then went on to do post-graduate work at Juilliard.

Trivia

After retirement, she became president of the Association for the Publication of New Music, producing CDs that featured her own music as well as compositions from others.

She was married to the composer Godfrey Winham.
