Archibald Gardner

About

19th Century Scottish-American flour and lumber pioneer who helped establish communities in Ontario, Wyoming, and Utah. There are plaques and monuments throughout Wyoming in his honor.

Before Fame

His family emigrated from Scotland to Canada and he began establishing gristmills in the area when he was seventeen.

Trivia

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a local leader in the community for 32 years.

Family Life

He was a polygamist and fathered at least 48 children.

Associated With

Olympic gold-medalist Rulon Gardner is his great-great-grandson.
