Irish actress of the stage and screen who rose to fame after performing in Tennessee Williams' The Rose Tattoo. She went on to win acclaim for her starring role in Martin McDonagh's The Beauty Queen of Leenane. Her film credits include Clash of the Titans, All Dogs Go to Heaven, and A Man of No Importance.

She was recruited by impresario Micheál Mac Liammóir and theatrical producer Hilton Edwards.

Trivia

She won the award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play at the 52nd Tony Awards for her role in The Beauty Queen of Leenane. She was also nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for her performance in The Plough and the Stars.

Family Life

She was married to stage director Colm O'Kelly from 1955 until his death in 1956.
