Before Fame

Throughout high school she served at the editor for the high school newspaper and later went on to graduate from Long Beach State with her bachelors in communication studies.

Trivia

She became a member of the Society Of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators and was twice nominated for the Sue Alexander Most Promising New Work Award.

Family Life

A California native, she married Linkin Park guitarist Mike Shinoda in 2003. The two gave birth to two children. Her maiden name was Hillinger.
