Andrew Ference

Professional hockey defenseman known for his seven-year stint with the Boston Bruins, which included a Stanley Cup victory in 2011. He went on to serve as captain for two years with the Edmonton Oilers.

Before Fame

He played his major junior hockey with the Portland Winter Hawks of the WHL and was the 208th overall pick of the 1997 NHL Draft. He played for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Calgary Flames before joining Boston.

Trivia

While playing for Calgary, he collaborated with David Suzuki to create a carbon-offset program for NHL players. His charitable work earned him a King Clancy Memorial Trophy after the 2013-2014 season.

Family Life

He married Krista Bradford in 2002. The couple has two daughters.

He ended up in Boston as part of a trade that saw Brad Stuart go to the Calgary Flames in 2007.
