André Silva

About

Professional soccer player who died aged 25 in a car crash in Spain, along with his brother Diogo Jota. He played soccer as an attacking midfielder.  In July 2023, he joined Liga Portugal 2 club Penafiel on a three-year deal.

Before Fame

He played at local soccer club Gondomar. He joined Porto's youth setup in 2011. 

Trivia

In 2021 he began his senior career and played with Gondomar in the Campeonato de Portugal and with Penafiel. 

Family Life

His sister-in-law was Rute Cardoso. He had nephews named Dinis and Duarte.

Associated With

His teammates Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson carried floral arrangements at his funeral.
