Alice Tai

About

Paralympic swimmer in freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly. She has competed at European and World Championships, winning gold in many of the competitions. She was named The Sunday Times' Disability Sportswoman of the Year in 2019. 

Before Fame

She was born with the birth defect clubfoot. She started swimming when she was eight years old. She studied neuroscience. 

Trivia

She had her right leg amputated below the knee in 2022 due to worsening pain in her right foot. She was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to swimming in 2017.

She is from Poole, England. She is of Chinese descent. Her parents are Steve and Angela. She has a brother named Christian.
