Before Fame

He studied at Christ Church, Oxford, after winning a classics scholarship. He was a spy for MI6 during World War II.

Trivia

He rejected atheism in his publication Language, Truth and Logic. He also wrote for Polemic with George Orwell from 1945 until 1947.

Family Life

He was married to Dee Wells, who was 15 years younger than he was.
