She was taught to play chess by her father when she was a little girl and, in 2001, at the age of 17, she reached the finals of the World Women's Chess Championship.

Trivia

She became a chess Grandmaster in 2004 and in 2011 she was ranked 44th in the FIDE women's Elo rating list with a rating of 2439.

Family Life

Her sister Oxana Kosteniuk is also a chess master.
