Salsa singer who was known as the Puerto Rican Elvis Presley. He became famous as a member of Ray Barretto's band. He previously performed with the bands of Chuíto Vélez, Willie Rodríguez and Willie Rosario.

Before Fame

He learned to play guitar by ear.

Trivia

In late 1972, he and four other members of Ray Barretto's band started a group called Tipica 73. He provided music for the 1993 film Carlito's Way.

Family Life

His nephews are singers Johnny Rivera and Tony Vega.
